Emory Hillandale Hospital is looking for a Specialty Director of Emergency Services.
- Responsible for the administrative and clinical management of the Emergency Department and the Care Initiation, Clinical Decision and Observation Units. Plans, directs, manages, coordinates and monitors specialty nursing practice and department activities within the hospital.
- Accountable for the quality and service outcomes of the units within the division. Develops and implements strategic goals and objectives to maintain high quality patient care services and organizational throughput and output.
- Ensures department operates within budget and in accordance with performance standards.
- Creates an environment that supports employee growth and engagement. Performs other related duties as assigned. Serves as a member of the Nurse Executive Team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
- Demonstrates effective communication and relationship building skills (e.g., effective communication, relationship management, influence of behaviors, ability to work with diversity, shared decision making, community involvement, medical staff relationships, and academic relationships).
- Demonstrates knowledge of the healthcare environment (e.g., clinical practice knowledge, patient care delivery models, work design knowledge, healthcare economics, healthcare policy, governance, evidence-based practice, outcome measurement, patient safety, utilization / case management, quality improvement, metrics, and risk management).
- Employs leadership skills (e.g., foundational thinking, personal journey, uses systems thinking, succession planning and change management).
- Demonstrates professionalism (e.g., personal and career accountability, career planning, ethics, practices evidence-based clinical and management, advocates for the clinical enterprise and for clinical practice, and active membership in professional associations).
- Applies business skills (e.g., understanding of healthcare finances, human resource management and development, strategic management, marketing, and information management and technology).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of three years progressive management experience with at least five years in the field. Doctorate degree preferred.
- Master's degree is required. Preferable a MSN.
- If master's degree is in a business or other applicable health related field other than nursing, a BSN is required.
- National certification in clinical specialty or nursing administration required.
- Membership in a national nursing organization or a healthcare organization is required.
- Current Georgia Professional registered nursing license.
