About the Job
- DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
- Knowledgeable and proficient in performing blood collection by venipuncture, finger sticks, heel sticks as well as a thorough understanding of Mobilab. Responsible for training and evaluating competency of Laboratory staff who perform blood collection. Is a resource for the nursing units for Mobilab and blood collection. Position relates to the overall function of the lab and the hospital in view of patient car and patient satisfaction Problem solving associated with the specimen procurement with the direction of the Supervisor or Manager.
- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
- Experience:
- 3 years laboratory experience in phlebotomy and processing specimens required.
- Knowledge of LIS and HIS computer systems required.
- Education and Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- License, Certification & Registration:
- Certification in Phlebotomy by ASCP preferred.
- DRIVER - Driver's License
- Other Requirements:
- Responsible for care and accuracy in collecting and labeling specimens.
- Works with the supervisor to ensure the workflow is appropriate and efficient.
- Maintains inventory of blood drawing tubes and storeroom items at satisfactory levels.
- Assists with writing policies and procedures, while communicating to staff.
