YOUR ROLE
You're here to make a real difference in the lives of our students. Your job involves following treatment plans and sticking to a regular schedule for speech therapy, just as the Individualized Education Program (IEP) dictates. It's quite a versatile role - you not only help students understand language better and keep tabs on their progress but also work closely with the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to make sure our therapy goals match the students' needs.
You also use positive reinforcement and pick the right materials. Beyond that, you provide training in areas like communication, feeding, and assistive technology. Keeping accurate records and knowing when there might be a swallowing issue is part of your job too. Your dedication to our students' overall well-being ensures that our therapy makes them more independent and secure.
REQUIREMENTS
The education and skills required for the position are:
- Bachelor's degree and MA licensure to practice as an SLPA
- A valid driver's license for more than one year and the ability to drive the company's wheelchair or mini-vans safely according to Massachusetts driving laws
- Willingness to participate in a minimum of two hours per month of in-service training to further develop necessary skills
