About the Job
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, direct and perform Speech Therapy Services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Delegation of Authority
As the Speech Language Pathologist you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out you’re assigned duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
¨ Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing speech therapy, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the facility.
¨ Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning therapy services.
¨ Represent the facility at and participate in meetings as directed.
¨ Implement speech therapy standards as directed.
¨ Collaborate with team members in developing, implementing and coordinating rehabilitation policies and procedures, pre-admission screening, resident care plans, MDS information, resident assessments, etc.
¨ Assist in standardizing the methods in which speech therapy will be accomplished.
¨ Assist in developing, implementing and coordinating policies and procedures; resident care plans, speech therapy procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc.
¨ Assist in reviewing speech therapy policies, procedures, manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually, and participate in making recommended changes.
¨ Develop program goals and assess the need for clinical equipment and supplies. Participates in budget planning and preparation as desired by the facility.
¨ Interpret speech therapy policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, etc., as necessary.
¨ Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of resident care plans, resident assessments, etc., as necessary.
¨ Assist the Program Director in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
¨ Maintain treatment records, resident files, and progress notes as required.
¨ Track treatment for Medicare and HMO’s.
¨ Work with the Program Director/Corporate Director of Rehabilitation as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
¨ Responsible for submitting all clinical and billing documentation in a timely manner.
¨ Maintain an adequate liaison with families and residents.
¨ Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the administrator as required.
¨ Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Program Director.
