The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide evaluation, diagnosis and treatmment of communication and swallowing disorders to residents--mostly geriatric. The candidate must be knowledgeable of conditions associated with aging and have experience working with the elderly population. The SLP will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to the residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify communication and swallowing disorders
- Develop individualized treatment plans to meet resident needs
- Provide therapy sessions to improve communication and swallowing abilities
- Educate residents and their families about communication and swallowing disorders, treatment options, and safe swallowing practices
- Document resident progress and maintain accurate records
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss resident progress and develop care plans
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive resident care
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current New Jersey State license in Speech-Language Pathology
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with geriatric patients, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Knowledge of conditions associated with aging and their impact on communication and swallowing
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
