Under the supervision of the Co-Director(s) of Rehabilitation, the speech and language pathologist provides evaluation and development of treatment programs for hospital inpatients, hospital outpatients, Long Term Care patients, home health patients as well as services to Long Term Care contracts and school contracts. In addition, the speech and language pathologist will provide supervision and modification to standards of performance for all speech and language pathology personnel. The Speech and Language Pathologist directs patient participation and selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance as well as facilitate the running of these skills to promote functional independence.
Responsibilities:QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
1. Completion of a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology approved by the ASHA. Possession of or in the process of completing certification of clinical competency as determined by the ASHA.
2. Valid state licensure/regulation as determined by Michigan State regulations.
3. Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
4. Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
5. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
6. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
7. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
8. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
9. Must have the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
10. Must keep patients safe.
