Position Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in the acute hospital setting is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency disorders. The SLP works closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care, develop individualized treatment plans, and support patients' recovery and rehabilitation processes. This role requires the SLP to perform detailed evaluations, document progress, and implement evidence-based therapy interventions to improve patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• Minimum Education: Current Speech language Pathologist license in the State of California. Current American Heart Association Healthcare provider BLS CPR (renewed biannually).
   
• Minimum Experience: One year of experience in general Acute care preferred. CFY candidates may be utilized if they meet the supervision and documentation guidelines set forth by the California Speech Therapy Board of California. Clinical competency in Dysphagia preferred.
   
• Preferred Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates ability to work as an interdisciplinary team member. Must be willing to cross train to multiple areas. Demonstrates good working knowledge of Title 22, JCAHO standards and county regulations. Strong communication/people skills. Possess the skills necessary to perform evaluations of patients in ages ranging from pediatric to geriatric. Must be able to speak, read and write English.

• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
