Speech Writer V - PCI Government Services

The Speech Writer creates high-quality, strategic speeches and public communications for senior leadership. This role involves collaborating closely with leadership and other stakeholders to ensure that messaging aligns with organizational goals, reflects the leadership’s voice and personality, and resonates with various audiences, including employees, stakeholders, the media, and the public.

• Speechwriting: Research, draft, and edit speeches, remarks, and presentations for senior leadership for various events (e.g., conferences, meetings, keynotes, interviews, etc.)
• Tailoring Messages: Ensure speeches reflect the appropriate voice and tone while aligning with the organization’s strategic priorities and goals.
• Research & Content Development: Conduct in-depth research on topics relevant to the speech, including industry trends, audience expectations, and current events, to ensure accurate, informed, and impactful content.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with executives and other stakeholders to gather input, review drafts, and revise content based on feedback.
• Presentation Preparation: Assist in developing accompanying presentation materials (e.g., slides, talking points) to support the speech and enhance delivery.
• Speech Coaching: Offer guidance to executives on speech delivery techniques and provide feedback during rehearsals to improve impact and clarity.
• Crisis Communications: Develop rapid-response speeches and statements for crisis or high-stakes situations, ensuring the executive’s voice remains calm, clear, and authoritative.
• Editing & Proofreading: Ensure all written content is clear, concise, and free of grammatical errors, and that it follows the organization’s style and branding guidelines.
• Content Strategy: Contribute to broader communications and content strategy, ensuring executive messaging is integrated across platforms (e.g., internal memos, public statements, social media posts).

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Health, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in speechwriting, journalism, public relations, or communications, ideally in a federal/governmental environment.
• Proven track record of writing for senior executives or public figures.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear, compelling, and engaging speeches for senior executives.
• Ability to quickly gather, understand, and synthesize information across various subjects.
• Talent for crafting speeches that inform and inspire, tailoring content to specific audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work closely with executives, communications teams, and other stakeholders.
• Experience in writing under pressure and handling sensitive communications during high-stakes situations.
• Meticulous in proofreading and ensuring messaging consistency across all materials.
• High level of discretion in managing confidential or sensitive information.
• Familiarity with public speaking techniques and how to support effective delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Understanding of media relations and the broader communications landscape.
• Familiarity with multimedia tools and technologies to support visual presentations.
• Experience supporting federal or state government agencies.
