INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
The general purpose of this position is to train in all the responsibilities of a Sports Management position including tournaments, special events and other baseball activities. The intent of the internship is to allow the student practical work experience in the sports management industry. Commitment length will be addressed individually.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Assist in all areas of baseball tournament set up (admissions, concessions, facility maintenance, scoreboard/game announcing)
- Learn the administrative details of a business, payroll, profit and loss reports and analysis, guest management, and inter-office communications
- Assist baseball operations with game scheduling and umpire scheduling
- Assist general operations with employee/intern scheduling and management
- Assist operations and facilities manager with facility maintenance and facility upkeep
- Assist in other areas of the facility as needed (hospitality, pro shop, kitchen, photography, etc.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current student or recently graduated in the last year towards a degree in sports management, business administration, or related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong desire to learn
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as, independently
- Demonstrate success with multi-tasking and organizing multiple priorities
- Self-motivated and has initiative to complete tasks in a timely fashion
- Available 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and game days
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to bend, reach, and lift 50 lbs.
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend into awkward positions while performing job functions
- Will be required to sit for extended periods of time operating a computer
- Workplace environment has intermittent noise, generally moderate in nature, but can be loud at times especially during competitions and events
- Exposure to heat, cold and other elements
