- GENERAL SUMMARY
- Reports to Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Manager and works in close cooperation with and under the clinical guidance of the referring physician(s). This role also reports to the clinic supervisor at the location at which he or she provides services. Practices and provides patient care in a subspecialty of sports or orthopedic physical therapy where the majority of, or significant portion of, patient caseload is provided with specialty service(s). Demonstrates excellence in sports physical therapy by providing quality patient care and is recognized as an expert authority in their field of specialization, not only by CHKDHS physicians, but also by physicians in the community outside of the CHKD health system.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides notoriety to CHKD Sports Medicine program as a center of excellence in the specialty service(s) area.
- Provides clinical education to students and residents of CHKD, the entire sports medicine program, and the greater community as a whole in the area of expertise.
- Performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to orthopedic and sports conditions.
- Generates referrals and additional revenues into the CHKD Sports Medicine program.
- Facilitates growth of Sports Performance Academy offerings and participation.
- Utilizes the latest evidence and practice trends in their specialty area.
- Provides mentorship to other health care professionals within CHKD and the community interested in the particular field of study.
- Collaborates with research coordinator and data coordinator for outcomes analysis for quality improvement purposes and future research, including community collaborations where appropriate.
- Maintains productivity standard of 90% or better.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
- Current State license as a Physical Therapist required.
- Board certified in physical therapy as either Sports or Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (SCS or OCS), preferred.
- Certifications in their particular area of expertise, preferred.
- Must possess current CPR certification.
- MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) required.
- Completion of a residency or fellowship preferred.
- At least two years of experience training in, or working in specialty field to be recognized as an “expert authority”, required.
- WORKING CONDITIONS
- Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
