SQL Engineer - Maximus

Maximus is looking for a Remote SQL Engineer. The SQL Engineer assists in the development of software solutions that will meet or exceed business requirements; the development effort includes designing and implementing modules to the system specifications, conducting unit testing, troubleshooting issues and producing detailed proposals to resolve issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
- Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
- Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
- Improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
- Obtain and license software by obtaining required information from vendors, recommending purchases, and testing and approving products.
- Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
- Protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
- Accomplish engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; and following the software development lifecycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience.
- May have additional training or education in area of specialization.
- Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- General application of concepts and principles.
- Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals.
- Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards.
- Applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
- Communicates on complex or sensitive issues or drafts such responses for supervisor or manager.

Program Specific Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; additional experience would be considered in lieu of degree
-Minimum three (3) to four (4) years of related experience in design and development of complex applications
-Experience working in an Agile and Waterfall software development methodology
-Enterprise level IT experience with structured methodologies for systems development
-Expert level hands-on experience in software development using T SQL Experience in enterprise level database design
-Experience working in SSIS and SSRS
-Proficiency with complex financial data systems or worked on a Financial Student Aid programs
-Experience doing written evaluation of tools, technologies, and methodologies for software development preferred
-Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills. Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline oriented work environment
-Ability to successfully execute multiple complex tasks simultaneously
-Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently
-Team player with excellent written and oral communication skills
-Responsible for adhering to established safety standards

Additional Requirements, as per Contract/Client:

- Must Be Eligible to Obtain Government Clearance

- Must be a U.S. citizen

- Must currently reside in the U.S.

- Must be able to pass a criminal background check

- Must not be delinquent or in default on any federal student loans

- Employment and continued employment are contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a favorable clearance.

- Final suitability determination is the sole discretion of the Department of Education.

- Obtaining and Maintaining a PIV-I card is a requirement of this position. PIV-I cards must be picked up in person. If applicable, new and existing employees may need to travel via car, train, or plane to a designated location to pick up their new or replacement PIV-I card. Any travel expenses will be paid for by Maximus.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
