This is a long-term contract role located an hour north of New York City in Connecticut with a major financial institution.

This is a long-term contract role located an hour north of New York City in Connecticut with a major financial institution.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Day-to-day management of the centralized MSSQL Server platform
- Working with highly talented application development and support teams to resolve database service requests and incidents within agreed upon SLAs
- Being the first line SME escalation point for database issues
- Ensuring health of database platforms by reviewing and fixing issues with database backups, maintenance, monitoring and performance and other common faults
- Assisting with database migrations and service improvement efforts
- 5+ years experience as an MS SQL Server Database Administrator in a mission critical SQL 2008/2012 Shared Platform environment ( 2014 is a plus )
- Experience managing large transactional database systems (multiples of hundreds of GBs in size)
- Knowledge of High Availability and recoverability of databases in 24/7 environment by using clustering, replication, mirroring, log shipping, backup and restore to meet RTO/RPO objectives ( always-on is a plus )
- Experience in automating database management tasks using T-SQL and other scripting languages
- Strong command of performance tuning and proven experience in troubleshooting application performance problems (Indexing, Optimizer, server configuration, Profiler, DMV etc.) including TSQL programming and debugging skills
- Capability to understand and work in an environment with prime focus on automation and security
- Superior communication and analytical thinking skills
- Availability to participate in on-call rotation
