Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is a subject matter professional with strong knowledge of GAAP and the experience to perform and coordinate Accounting duties within the organization. The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include preparing journal entries for Financial Reporting, performing Account Reconciliations, maintaining the General Ledger, assisting with maintaining the Accounts Payable Subledger, assisting with Audit PC’s and request, process, and procedures as needed and other Accounting duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Maintain the General Ledger
Assist Accounting Manager with guiding Accounts Payable in daily tasks – Invoice Accuracy, Month End Close, Ledger to Subledger Reconciliation, Payment Application
Perform Account Analysis and Reconciliations for G&A, OPEX, CAPEX, Fixed Assets, Construction In Progress, Short/Long-Term Liability Adjustments, Insurance Accounting, and Prepaid Accounting
Perform Monthly Accounts Payable Invoice Accruals and Credit Card Expense Accruals
Perform Right of Use and Lease Accounting
Account for Depreciation and Amortization
Perform Month End, Quarter End, and Year End Close Processes
Assist with Quarter and Annual Audits preparing documents for External Auditors
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of general Financial Accounting and Cost Accounting (refinery accounting experience preferred)
Understanding of and ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Highly proficient with Accounting Software
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines with little supervision
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required
Minimum five years of Accounting experience required
Experience with Accounting Subledgers and reconciliations preferred
