Maximus is seeking a Sr Data Analyst to join our team. In this key role, you will not only support segmenting customers and outputting files to generate outbound customer communication campaigns, but also manage your projects to ensure their success. The primary responsibility of this role involves coding to defined requirements, assisting in the definition of new requirements, individual project management, data analysis, ensuring data accuracy, and automating processes.
Senior Data Analytics Analysts are highly skilled individual contributors with excellent proficiency in BI platforms and data analytics. They produce valuable insights, building reports and dashboards and conducting analyses in support of ongoing project operations and strategic initiatives. They develop operational workforce tools and analyses, conduct analyses on large volumes of data, and address urgent and high-impact business problems. They have advanced skills with enterprise business intelligence tools and are comfortable interacting with end-users, stakeholders, and development teams. They are comfortable owning and leading project activities, as required, and are able to independently build high quality products and relationships.
Job Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy advanced methods to analyze operational data and derive meaningful, actionable insights for stakeholders and business development partners.
- Function as point of contact for data and analytical usage accross multiple projects, and guide operational partners on product performance and solution improvement/maturity options.
- Analyze extracted data, identify trends and provide insights and analyses around operations and project data.
- Develop and implement new metrics, functions, and scripts as KPIs and in existing BI/Dashboards as needed.
- Ad hoc tool development to support operational and underserved analytical areas.
- Learning emerging technologies and systems of need for MAXIMUS initiatives.
- Activities to support team communication and strategy implementation (meetings, etc.).

Minimum Requirements:
- BS in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, Machine Learning (or similar).
- 5+ years of experience performing quantitative data analysis.
- Advanced Business Intelligence platform development skills with the ability to lead and train on best practice BI use.
- Implementation of machine learning results and algorithms into BI and operational processes.
- Expert in data acquisition/wrangling sourcing beyond SQL/relational to use cloud and API data in BI and operational analysis products.
- Leadership in prioritizing projects and evaluating data analysis solutions.
- Experience working directly with business users and requirements documentation.
- Experience with solution/vendor evaluation and evaluating product ROI.
- Experience with government sponsored health care programs and operations desirable.
Education and Experience Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform campaign development, validation, reconciliation, automation, and establish data feeds using tools such as SQL, SSRS, SSIS, Hadoop Impala, and other platforms as needed.
- Create and maintain history and waterfall tables, ensuring all necessary data elements are retained to respond to audits and measure success.
- Work closely with multiple teams to coordinate items needed for campaign implementation. This includes, but is not limited to, providing file layouts, schemas, triggering and reviewing test results, coordinating drop volume and schedules, and all other required tasks.
- Create and maintain all documentation including obtaining and collecting artifacts needed for campaigns and ensure documentation and task trackers are kept up to date.
- Assist with production monitoring to ensure all scheduled jobs and processes are produced as expected. This will include reviewing logs, reconciliation reports, and identifying and resolving production failures or load errors.
- The senior analyst is expected to take ownership of assigned projects from start to finish to ensure milestones are hit, and keep management updated if deadlines are in jeopardy. They must have the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, maintain a flexible and positive mindset when there are quick changes in direction, and provide insights and suggestions for such things as campaign strategies, delivery channels, and technical/process efficiencies.
- Ability to present findings to management and senior leaders as well communicate insights in both technical and business terms.
- Keep leaders in operations, business lines, and business support groups informed of ongoing developments and early indications of strategy or campaign performance and operational metrics.
- Fulfill ad-hoc requests from varying business units.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Machine Learning (or similar) or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in reporting, analysis and strategy development
- 2 years of SQL, or equivalent querying language experience
- 2 years of experience working as a project lead or key participant in multiple projects
- Ability to interpret, develop, and implement business strategies
- Ability to analyze large amounts of raw data to identify trends within the data that could be used to define and drive strategies and segmentations
- Ability to proactively identify opportunities based off analytical insight
- Ability to meet or exceed deadlines with fluctuating workload in a time-sensitive environment
- Demonstrated leadership/mentoring ability for less senior team members
- Ability to adjust to fluctuating workload with the pressure of aggressive deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication skills required to effectively and concisely present key findings to senior management

- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
