Position Overview
The Sr. Brand Manager for the Grocery Services Division is responsible forleading the strategic development and execution of brand initiatives to drive growth, increase market share, and enhance brand equity within the retail space.This role will lead all aspects of an assigned brand’s business including but not limited to positioning, innovation, distribution, and marketing. This role has direct accountability for assigned brand P&L with specific financial performance expectations. In collaboration with the Director of Brand Marketing and Innovation, this role will develop and execute the commercial strategy to successfully launch and manage innovation into the heavily competitive coffee category. This role will lead a team for successful strategy execution, project management and integrated marketing.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Brand Strategy
- Develops Annual Business Plans including forecasting, competitive analysis, gap analysis and all other strategic planning for assigned brand(s).
- Recommends and cultivates marketplace positioning for assigned brand(s).
- Identifies target market segments to position assigned brand(s) and makes timely recommendations.
- Leads merchandising ideas (e.g., identifies upsell/cross sell opportunities and executes).
Product Portfolio Management
- Ensures positioning, claims, packaging, and product content is accurate, competitive, and leveraged to gain market share.
- Leads the product life cycle to elevate performing SKUs and eliminate under-performing SKUs in a timely manner.
- Works with cross-functional partners in demand and supply, operations and manufacturing for continuous improvement.
- Supports the innovation team and pipeline strategy and helps to identify gaps in the product portfolio.
Marketing and Communication
- Oversees the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, including digital, print, and in-store promotions.
- Fosters a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams to develop compelling content and creative assets.
- Ensures consistency of brand voice and identity across all marketing channels.
Strategic Analytics
- Effectively manages financial performance for assigned brand(s).
- Responsible for timely reporting of health of assigned brand(s).
- Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure all components of the business are running according to strategy and KPIs.
- Creates accurate product line forecasting – develops forecasting for new product launches, new promotions, phase-outs and other activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinates functions and activities impacting product across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Works in close collaboration with Sales, Commercialization, Creative, Digital and Production Teams.
- Identifies market research needs through collaboration with Data Analytics Team.
Leadership
- Responsible for building, developing, and retaining talent necessary to drive a high-performance team to support assigned brand’s short term and long-term strategic plans.
- Leads direct reports with emphasis on project management, e-commerce, and integrated marketing.
- May be required to perform additional job duties.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Finance, or related field required. MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ CPG experience required.
- 5 years leading strategy with direct P&L accountability required.
- Experience leading all aspects for a brand and/or business unit required.
- 3 years in project management and leading cross-functional teams.
- Proven Experience in the Following is Required:
- Developing new products and working in a stage gate process
- Working with syndicated data (IRI or Nielsen).
- Leading large scale brand launches.
- People and strategy leadership.
- Excellent project management skills with strong financial acumen to evaluate product line P&L performance.
- Proficiency in MS Office required.
- Must have excellent communication skills with a track record for coordinating complex projects across cross functional teams.
- Must have prior experience managing a budget.
