Our client is revolutionizing the way orthopaedic implants and robotic procedures are designed and implanted with industry leading modeling and simulation technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer to apply and develop innovative simulation methodologies to characterize and optimize next generation implant designs, processes, and surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing detailed literature searches to provide a basis for analytical methods and assumptions.
- Executing static and dynamic nonlinear multibody finite element analyses that include deformable contact, advanced material properties and multi-physics required for realistic simulation of in vivo kinematics and manufacturing process.
- Developing new techniques and implementing automation using custom programming when required.
- Evaluating analytical results and recommending design, process, or material changes based on characterization.
- Developing and validating analytical models to gain further insight in research related issues.
- Demonstrating refined technical report writing external publication writing skills.
- Contributing on cross-functional teams to develop next generation technologies and devices.
- Becoming familiar with relevant aspects of competitive technologies to develop innovative solutions to which solve / satisfy customer needs.
- Interfacing with clinical advisors to gather input for evaluation and development of new technologies.
- Reviewing, selecting, and coordinating proposals for modeling & simulation-based research at outside universities and laboratories.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline; Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience with modeling & simulation-based research in the medical device industry, or equivalent.
- Experience with finite element analysis (e.g. ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-Dyna), CAD (e.g. Pro/Engineer, Solidworks), custom programming (e.g. Fortran subroutine, Matlab, Python), and other analytical based research tools.
- Experience with musculoskeletal simulation packages (e.g. OpenSim).
- Ability to contribute to complex discovery-based research initiatives from concept through final recommendation.
- Understanding of mechanics, engineering principles, new technology, and product development processes.
