The Senior Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the claims management process for a designated group of accounts, ensuring effective coordination with internal teams, clients, and carriers. This role demands extensive experience in property and casualty claims across various lines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Management:
- Provide oversight and audit of claim reporting activities
- Serve as a subject matter expert on claims coverage issues
- Ensure all claims are processed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for improving claims processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Utilize data and analytics to monitor claims trends and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows and improve overall service delivery.
Carrier Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with carrier claims leadership
- Negotiate with carriers on behalf of clients to secure fair settlements.
- Stay updated on carrier guidelines, policies, and industry trends.
Client Interaction:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated claims issues and client inquiries.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Provide a consultative approach in advocating on behalf of the client
- Review coverage letters and advocate on behalf of client as needed
- Prepare and deliver quarterly/semi-annual claim reviews (client-facing)
- Review and negotiate claim reserves with carriers as needed
- Assist clients in resolving claims with client specific strategy
- Pro-actively follow up on large complex losses for adverse development
- Provide coaching / training to other team members as needed
- Act as claims liaison, including consultative discussions and research regarding coverages
- Organize client claim review meetings
- Visit clients to review claims and assess claims needs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Valid Insurance License.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in claims management, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of insurance policies, claims handling processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and develop a team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
