Per Se is collaborating with a distinguished renewable energy client in Illinois to find an experienced Project Manager. This role is integral to overseeing the successful management of large-scale renewable energy generation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Role Overview:
The Renewable Energy Project Manager will be responsible for leading projects valued at over $100M, from early development stages through to commercial operation. This includes budget development, engineering design, construction oversight, and ensuring all activities comply with relevant regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee renewable energy projects from initial budget planning and engineering phases through to construction and commercial operation.
- Lead the project team on-site, including Construction Managers and Engineers, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Serve as the owner’s Engineer, acting as the main point of contact for customers and contractors.
- Monitor construction quality to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, QA/QC requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Manage the approval process for pay applications, including reviewing and recommending change orders in accordance with contract terms.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, as well as company policies.
- Provide consulting support to the development team, including cost estimation, scheduling, and basic engineering for multiple projects.
- Develop and manage construction budgets, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and tracking performance against budget.
- Implement processes and procedures to construct renewable energy facilities efficiently and safely, aiming for “Best in Class Performance.”
- Support recruitment, hiring, and training of construction personnel.
- Conduct Root Cause Analyses to identify and resolve issues, sharing lessons learned to improve project quality, schedule, cost, and safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain relationships with third-party service providers.
- Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including KPI reporting.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, with registration as a P.E. being a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in the construction of energy or heavy industrial facilities, with a focus on renewable energy preferred.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale utility or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in technical and economic feasibility analysis.
- Experience with project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Willingness to travel 25% – 50% of the time to domestic and international locations.
- Understanding of cost accounting, budgeting, and contract management.
- Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to serve as a role model within the organization.
- Physical ability to climb vertical ladders up to 300 feet and work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Fluency in Spanish is an advantage.
