Our client needs a senior Core Java Developer for this project which involves developing applications for a NextGen Set Top Box platform (cable TV set top boxes). Extremely deep background in core Java is required not a Web development position. This is a great opportunity to acquire experience working in the cable TV industry experience that is in high demand.

Required Skills/Experience
- Senior Core Java Developer with focus on Threads, Futures, concurrent packages, Reflection, Exception Handling, Code Initialization (constructors, reflection, bean introspection) etc.
- Familiarity with Java Coding Standards - Very important. (for example diff between == and .equals () ), How do you check if a string is null or empty, etc. ,
- HTTP Request/Response, Headers, authentication, authorization, Response Codes
- JSON Parsing
- Eager/Lazy Initialization of the application
- Reading of Log files
- Maven - how to see the dependency tree?
- SVN - Version control - resolve conflicts tag/branch/ etc.
- Debugger - evaluate expressions at run time, etc.
- Garbage Collection etc.
- Monitoring short/long lived applications; Metrics
- Recover from or graceful handling of Runtime/Checked exceptions
- Thread/Object Pooling
- Design Patterns - Singleton, Command, etc.
- Difference between Stateful / Stateless sessions - which approach to take for designing high scalable solutions
- Little bit of HTML + JavaScript + CSS
- Sequence + Component diagrams
