About the Job
The Sr. Corporate Accountant is responsible for general financial analysis, reporting, and reconciliation related to various corporate accounting responsibilities. In addition, this position administers all stock activity and associated reporting, and coordinates activities related to the preparation of the annual proxy statement.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supports the controller and assistant controller in monthly closings, SEC reporting, Call Report and Federal Reserve regulatory reporting (Y-6, Y-11, Y9C).
- Administers activities related to employee and director stock awards including, but not limited to, annual grants, exercise requests, Form 4 reporting and vesting and also is responsible for:
- Maintaining files for directors’ and officers’ stock holdings,
- Maintaining database for stock awards,
- Completing all SEC filing requirements, and
- Processing all share repurchases.
- Completes reconciliations and supports management with analysis for the annual financial budget.
- Performs financial analysis of business unit performance as requested by the CEO, CFO, and business unit managers.
- Coordinates efforts related to preparation of the company’s annual proxy statement including, but not limited to:
- Requesting input from stakeholders, including HR for completion of the compensation discussion and analysis (CD&A) section to ensure accuracy,
- Preparing and obtaining annual director and officer (D&O) questionnaires.
- Participates in investor relations including maintenance of information on Cass investor relations (IR) website, investor presentations, 10B 5-1 plan, and annual and Board meeting preparation.
- Coordinates content and maintenance of “important papers” files (hard copy and electronic).
- Maintains company fixed assets reporting.
- Ensures IT time tracking is accurate and allocated appropriately.
- Reviews and approves all processed invoices and tax documentation through Accounts Payable (AP) for accuracy and completion and serves as a backup Accounts Payable Associate when needed.
- Completes business license applications, tax declarations, and other regulatory requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
- Completes special projects and other duties as needed or assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge or experience in applying US GAAP and SEC regulations to proxy, 10K, and other financial reporting preparation.
- Proficient knowledge in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications with a strong ability to quickly adapt to and learn software applications.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with various levels of company management and with external affiliates.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage several tasks and projects simultaneously.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or business with an emphasis in accounting or equivalent experience.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, e.g., corporate accounting with a medium to large size company or public accounting firm.
