Position Summary:
The Sr Data Analyst II position conducts analysis of business and user needs and then documents requirements with diverse levels of complexity. Working with business process teams and application system personnel, the Sr Data Analyst II identifies data sources, confirms conversion requirements, and resolves data mapping and data integrity issues.
The Sr Data Analyst II supports the data delivery needs of a wide set of initiatives:
Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence (DW/BI) projects These efforts involve gathering data from disparate systems for the purpose of reporting and analysis. Ensure project/solution success by:
• Identifying data quality issues that must be corrected in the source system
• Identifying issues that can be corrected in ETL processing
• Discovering unanticipated business rules
Data conversion/migration for application modernization
• These efforts involve moving data from a legacy system to a new system. Reduce project risk by:
• Identifying data quality issues that must be handled in the code that moves data from the legacy system to the new system
• Identifying data issues that may require a change to the target (new) system
Source system data quality & data consistency between applications
These efforts assess and improve the data quality of a given source system, seeking to fix existing issues as well as avoid those issues in the future. Maximize project ROI by:
• Highlighting the areas within the system suffering from the most serious and/or numerous data quality issues
• Identifying issues that may be the result of bad user input or errant system interfaces
Position Responsibilities:
Analytical Data Evaluation & Quality Management:
• Demonstrates process and technology fluency with analytic applications
• Demonstrates ability to collect knowledge about information assets: where they are, what format they are in, what level of quality they represent, and their value to the enterprise through search & discovery, data modeling, and advanced data profiling
• Conduct data verifications during builds and data validations as required by the business
• Monitors and shares data quality metrics with scorecards and reports to track data quality
Business Engagement:
• Business Requirements Gathering: Demonstrates ability to engage within a collaborative process, bringing stakeholders together to establish which business outcomes are desired.
• Demonstrates skills to train users to use information correctly; oversees training activities for business resources new to analysis tools
• Supports end-user ‘self-service’ strategy and the development of business super user teams
• Demonstrates a high proficiency in business facing technology tools as required: Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Informatica IICS
• Enables stakeholders to collaborate, build, and manage a common business vocabulary across the organization
• Collaborates with data stewards and developers during initial data profiling activities and for resolution of data quality problems
Functional Specification development (source to target mapping) for technical design and delivery:
• Documents source to target system conversion requirements
• Develops test scenarios and verification procedures for transformation rule quality assessment
• Assesses whether data is fit for use by performing initial validation of data delivered
• Liaison role between business and development teams for coordination of activities to approve final conversion results
• Acts a as a champion-challenger when testing proposed transformation rules or mappings from other Information/Systems

• Shows executives how business intelligence (processes, practices, and technologies) plays a critical role in improving business
management, optimization, and competitiveness
• Encourages collaboration between IT and business information consumers/analysts

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or other related field
- 5 to 7 years of experience
- 5+ years of experience in data-related disciplines
- Extensive knowledge of data management, data analysis, and business intelligence concepts
- Experience with a broad range of database and Business Intelligence environments including Snowflake, Microsoft Power Bi, Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with manual querying of data sources using Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Strong technical skills with data warehousing technologies
- Experience with data profiling software
- Able to interact with data architects and ETL resources, understand and extract data from any type of data sources such as star, normalized, transactional databases, etc.
