As a Senior Data Engineer at you will work within the Data Led Decisions team to innovatively optimize data centralization methods and data pipelines using API and ETL tools to deliver business value from the use of data and analytics. Through exploration you will make recommendations and implement effective and scalable ETL processes from our global source systems, which consider Data Standardization, Data Quality and standards set by our Data Architects and Governance policies.
What You'll Do
Above all, you will enable and maintain effective data pipelines across the Data Led Decisions team to further leverage data as an asset and support the delivery of self-service analytics. Define and implement and maintain data stores based on system and user requirements.
Design, develop, optimize, and maintain production grade ETL processes and pipelines.
Enable and run data migrations from source systems for analytics and insights.
Support the wider program from a data engineering perspective, working with Architects and subject model experts to model the data landscape and enable secure data exchange and pipelines for analytics and predictive models.
Perform analysis and troubleshoot data issues across the BIL data pipelines and processes.
Develop and implement scripts for database maintenance, monitoring and performance tuning.
Conduct complex analysis and report on results.
Be a data quality custodian by supporting and implementing data quality and governance policies.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or similar.
4-6 years relevant experience required
Extensive knowledge of database query languages (i.e. SQL or its MPP equivalent), database design, optimizing queries, internals knowledge of query planning
Strong capability in ETL development, and data centralization
Extensive knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
Strong capability in Cloud data and analytics technology, matching Safelite’s AWS, Informatica, Snowflake and Tableu stack.
Hand-on experience in the design and creation of Cloud Data Integration data flows.
Experience in creating data governance and security access models.
Experience in preparing data for prescriptive and predictive modelling.
Extensive knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles.
Hybrid position (work from home & office 2-3 days per week)
