Primary Responsibilities:The Senior UI/UX Designer partners with our engineers, product managers, business analysts, and business stakeholders to oversee all user experience and design operations across applications. As an integral part of Digital Experience Team (DEX), you will also own the process of creating a cohesive ecosystem throughout applications by managing and maintaining a living style guide and a pattern library. As an advocate of KeHE’s UI design system, you practice consistency and creativity across multiple product teams and guide the execution to align with KeHE’s vision. Essential Functions:DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design elegant, thoughtful solutions for complex workflows through the use of type, hierarchy, interactions, and design patterns.
- Assure design quality by collaborating closely with design team, developers, product owners, and business analysts to write clear and detailed specs.
- Co-Own KeHE’s design system; maintain and updating our pattern library, living style guide and Sketch (soon to be Figma) component library.
- Develop and define UI standards and advocate for UI/UX best practices.
- Effectively communicate design decisions to product and leadership teams.
- Function as the product owner for KeHE’s design system; partner with internal stakeholders and product owners to prioritize stories and manage the backlog in preparation for development.
- Prioritize UI project schedules and deliverables across multiple products.
- Conduct competitive research, discovery research and usability studies.
- Facilitate research sessions to identify business, user, and technical requirements.
- Use modern UX methodologies and techniques to inspire design thinking and create supporting documentation including personas, customer journeys, task flows, site maps, UI specifications & requirements, prototypes/wireframes.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Systems Analysts, and Developers to define and translate business and functional requirements into user-friendly and technically optimal/feasible designs.
- Design and conduct usability studies to ensure designs are intuitive and easy-to-use.
- Demonstrate UI/UX best practices in product teams.
- Coach and mentor team members.
- Stay current with UX, visual design, best practices and front-end technologies.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with current front-end web technologies, native interface guidelines, web services, and APIs
- Strong technical proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a design-making mentality
- Ability to scope and estimate efforts, prioritize tasks and goals, and rapidly produce deliverables in a fast-paced iterative environment
- Acts with empathy and curiosity; listens and seeks to understand
- Passionate mindset with positive intent
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and must be able to work well with others
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design (Graphic, Interaction, Visual, and Digital), Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Architecture, Marketing, or related UX field is preferred
- Minimum 5+ years experience in UI Design and UX Strategy for web, mobile, and application design
- Proficiency with Figma Libraries and design system component management
- Experience with Agile sprint-based cadence
- Portfolio of work is required
- Leadership experience a plus
- Experience using HTML, CSS, Javascript
- Experience with lean UX and just in time design cycles
