Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Sr. Director, Edge Readiness & Deployment to lead and be responsible for the execution of our Edge technology roll-out. We are moving fast and are adding to our best-in-class team, and joining McDonald's means thinking big every day and preparing for a career that will change the world! We are customer focused, committed to being leaders in our industry, and believe we are better when we work together. As a part of our modernization efforts, we are installing Edge servers managed by Google Cloud for faster, low latency analytics and enhancements to our customer facing platforms. This critical program requires strong leadership to oversee the execution of our Edge technology roll out.
The Sr. Director is accountable for driving a global technology roll-out in all our restaurants that will enable new cloud-based software applications as well as on-site local software and AI solutions. This leader must be able to cultivate a collaborative working relationship with cross-functional and business stakeholders across the globe. Demonstrated success in deploying a sophisticated program, with intimate knowledge of global deployment fundamentals and the impact technology has on our employees, and our customers. Qualified applicants should have a solid background in technology, complex deployments, and a global attitude.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Create the vision and operational plans for effective global cloud Edge deployment strategies through partnering with segment, market, global technology and business teams.
- Develop comprehensive global cloud Edge technology deployment plans outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements ensuring dependencies and sequencing is considered and planned.
- Oversee execution of global cloud Edge deployment plans to successfully drive technology deployment and market activation of new cloud computing capabilities in our restaurants.
- Accountable for the successful implementation of Edge technology in all restaurant locations across the globe including a comprehensive global roll-out plan while coordinating market participation and roll-out.
- Coordinate and connect with McDonald’s cross-functional teams and leaders including segments, markets, restaurant operations, and vendors to ensure alignment on deployment objectives and breakthroughs as well as uphold deployment schedules and ensure stability and quality of deployments across the globe.
- Oversee the management and planning for the deployment wave planning and coordination, technical expertise, risk management, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication.
- Establish trusted relationships with our deployment partners and our PMO to drive creation, leverage existing and distribute deployment standard processes and ensure leading technology practices are followed.
- Provide strategic guidance on complex cloud technology issues and lead critical decision-making processes to ensure the continued execution of the technology rollout.
- Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled leaders and professionals by fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Also ensures the team remains inspired and motivated and aligned with organizational goals through mentoring, coaching and providing career development opportunities.
- 15+ years of experience in technology, with a focus on infrastructure, engineering, data, cloud and digital solutions in a large multinational organization.
- Experience influencing, inspiring, and leading hard-working, diverse teams (>100) of employee and external supplier teams across multiple geographies.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale projects and cross-functional initiatives to success, on time, and within budget.
- History of excellent vendor leadership skills, including contract negotiation and performance oversight.
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in technology transformation, systems administration, digital technology, engineering, computer science, or other related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the McDonald’s business model, including intimate knowledge of our markets, market priorities, and key leaders.
- Capability to identify issues quickly and problem solve in real-time.
- Able to prepare and present accurate and timely information to senior leadership regarding program progress and maturity, up to and including the McDonald’s Senior Leadership Team.
- Exceptional communication skills, including written deliverables, oral presentations, and the ability to facilitate crucial conversations at all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage and mitigate risks, with a focus on security and compliance.
