The Sr Director of Finance performs a variety of financial activities, including accounting, financial analysis, audit, tax, credit and collections. Also, develops and evaluates financial plans and policies, establishes and maintains accounting, financial, and reporting policies and controls.
Major Position Responsibilities:- Directs and oversees multiple financial functions in the organization.
- Establishes internal controls for monitoring assets, capital investments, controlling costs, and measuring liquidity.
- Liaisons with senior leadership from accounting on matters of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
- May summarize the financial status of the organization; interprets asset ratios, break-even analysis reports, profit margins, operating costs, stock value (if applicable), and other metrics used in measuring fiscal stability.
- Communicates with operations, marketing, HR, IT, and other departments on matters of internal controls and/or budget approval and ROI for specific projects.
- Prepares for audits and makes certain that financial reporting is completed properly, and that all documentation follows applicable regulations (including GAAP, FASB, or SEC mandates).
- Leads and directs the work of other managers and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree
- OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
- 10-12 years experience in a relevant function
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Knowledge of financial management principles, program planning, Earned Value (EV) reporting for government contracts, budgeting and practices
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong Leadership Skills
- Understanding of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Fiscal Mangement, Accounting Software, and financial Analysis Software
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of concepts, principles, practices and procedures of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, administrative data control, scheduling and team interface
- Strong written, digital and verbal communication skills in both an individual and team environment
- Looks for ways to improve and promote quality
- Must be able to possess strong, planning, execution and multitasking skills and have demonstrated ability to reprioritize as needed
- Must be able to manage quickly changing priorities while meeting deadlines
- Works within the highest level of integrity, ethics and safety
- Decisions are guided by policy, procedures and business plan
- Ability to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
