The Mechanical Systems Section in the Strategic Aerospace Department
provides electromechanical engineering support for several US Air Force
Global Strike Command and Department of Defense programs. We are a
multidisciplinary team of engineers that enjoy supporting the
warfighter. We provide engineering services to projects involving the
design, development and maintenance of hardware and software systems for
the strategic aerospace community, including aircraft and ground support
equipment ranging from microcircuits to major subsystems.
Objectives of this Role:
- Participate in large multidisciplinary aerospace and avionics design
teams to execute cradle-to-grave science and engineering projects
that benefit national security.
- Contribute electromechanical design and drafting technical data
packages to support DoD clients with sustainment and modernization
of legacy hardware for flight, ground support, testing, and
maintenance.
- Support research and development of new technologies for national
defense applications.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Generate mechanical solid models, fabrication/assembly drawings,
BOMs, technical illustrations, electrical/mechanical schematics, and
installation/integration instructions.
- Drafting assignments involve conceptual, preliminary, and detailed
design under limited technical supervision.
- Generate analysis-only CAD models for structural, thermal, dynamic,
and dimensional engineering analyses.
- Manage individual and drafting team work contributions under limited
supervision.
- Lead drafting decision making by interacting with colleagues and
project leadership to present technical data packages, collaborate
to make design decisions, and document comprehensive technical data
packages in the form of 3D CAD models, manufacturing/fabrication
drawings, and electrical/mechanical schematics.
- Lead reverse engineering activities by creating 3D CAD models and/or
drawings from data that is extracted from legacy avionics equipment
and/or structures.
Requirements:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent or an Associates in
Mechanical Design and Drafting, Aerospace Design and Drafting,
Electronics Design and Drafting, Avionics Design and Drafting.
- 5+ years: Self-motivated with strong skills in organization,
technical writing, oral/written communication, and professionalism.
- 5+ years: Experience with leading highly complex electrical and
mechanical design development through conceptual, preliminary, and
detailed design tollgates.
- 5+ years: Proficient with developing mechanical solid models using
multiple commercial 3D/2D using SolidWorks preferred. Experience
providing original work contributions for complex electromechanical
systems with custom project requirements.
- 5+ years: Proficient with interpreting and generating the following
data: mechanical dimensioning and fit tolerances, electrical wiring
schematics, mechanical hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.

investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to
classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
