About the Job
We are looking for a motivated, driven, and collaborative Senior Software Engineer with experience in embedded software development to join a talented team that conducts research, design, and development of software for our latest products. Develop tools and systems that allow Panasonic Avionics Customer Systems Focals to process and transform hardware/software configuration data into System level configuration parameters to meet the customer In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) requirements. Has specific technical project or product responsibility.
Major Responsibilities:
Design, modify, and implement complex software applications from functional and system design specifications.
Develop and document designs in engineering documents including functional block diagrams and data/logic flow charts.
Develop strategic and implementation plans for large-scale information systems.
Code, integrate, test, debug, and refine the software to produce the required product.
Develop software tools and subsystems to support software development, test, reuse, and manage implementation for projects requiring extensive investigation and clarification.
Develop and support Systems Engineering with system architecture and design including software, hardware, communications, and interface requirements.
Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency and robustness.
Review, evaluate, and analyze design interfaces.
Prepare, review, and evaluate interface documentation, specifications, test plans and procedures.
Assist in definition, analysis, and allocation of requirements.
Support system test programs and analyzes system testing results.
Participate in a complete software development lifecycle using Agile methodologies.
Provide leadership and/or technical guidance to lower-level engineers, designers and support personnel as assigned.
Education / Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
Advanced degree is preferred.
10-15 years' of related experience.
8+ years' of embedded software development experience.
8+ years' of current hands on development experience with C/C++/Go and networking related solutions. Very high technical competence with a track record of strong coding.
IFE System Development experience is a plus.
Knowledge / Skill Requirements:
Strong proven experience in C/C++ programming languages and experience in Linux environment including TCP/IP network programming.
Deep knowledge and experience in multi-threaded embedded software development.
Strong proven experience in development under Linux, including bash scripting.
Embedded hardware and software design experience with x86, Cortex ARM microprocessors, SoCs.
Proven experience in socket programming, IPC and PUB/SUB architecture.
Experience with SQL, MySQL or related database language skills.
Familiarity with distributed applications using Golang.
Experience with test automation scripting/frameworks such as Python, Pytest, Playwright, and Selenium.
Understanding of networking protocols TCP/UDP/IP/HTTP/HTTPS/DHCP/DNS, etc.
Familiarity with Linux iptables, IP routing, VLAN, Ethernet networks, Ethernet PHY, SERDES and Fiber technologies is desirable.
Strong understanding of working with data such as data manipulation, data aggregation, data processing, or related.
Strong proven experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines, frameworks, and tools, such as GitOps, Git, GitLab and Argo CD.
Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining applications on AWS infrastructure.
Experience working with Static Code Analysis and quality tools such as Coverity and SonarQube.
Experience building web scale/container-based solutions (distributed and standalone) using Kubernetes.
Experience with Virtualization, Containerization, Docker Containers.
Familiarity with observability frameworks such as OTEL, Datadog, Vector, Grafana, Prometheus.
Familiarity with network security/pentest methodologies a plus.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and environments.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with user-centric, iterative design and development cycles.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and make efficient use of given resources such as system lab time and downstream process owners and tasks.
Highly proficient in project planning while addressing external/internal dependencies across multiple functions.
Uses skills as a seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
Resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
Proven ability to extensively modify existing processes, procedures, or methods to develop appropriate solutions.
Works on problems of diverse to complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.
Experience in leading and/or providing technical guidance to other engineers to achieve positive results.
Ability to effectively interact with senior internal and external personnel.
Proven ability to develop technical approach or design, resource, allocation, or time schedule on projects.
Demonstrable communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders using concise written and verbal skills is a must.
Demonstrable experience providing identifiable technical contributions to the success of a product or project.
Prior experience with multimedia application development including streaming audio/video servers and clients desired.
In-Flight Entertainment domain knowledge and System Development experience is a plus.
Familiarity with a variety of discipline field concepts, practices, and procedures.
Familiarity with issue and project management software such as Jira.
Ability to support on call rotation with global teams and customers.
Other Requirements:
Ability to travel to domestic or international locations as required, up to 10% of the time.
