Support the deployment of the IMSC vision "Transforming our world, delivering affordable medicines to anyone, anywhere, any day by focusing on driving performance of the manufacturing network, its physical assets, processes, products and technical resources and optimizing Cost of Goods produced.
Provide packaging engineering support to technical design and standards for packaging equipment, secondary and tertiary lifecycle, packaging technical transfer and new product launch projects for all of IMSC's packaging sites and external contracting sites, as applicable. Closely work together with other functional areas (MSAT, Packaging Operations, Planning, Value Chain Management, Supply Chain Development Leads, Technical Launch Integrators, site Packaging Engineers, packaging equipment and packaging materials vendors, among others) to achieve business results and serve as a recognized representative for the MSAT CoE - Packaging Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide lifecycle packaging equipment, process technology transfer and new product launch technical support as required by internal Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (IMSC) sites and/or external contract sites in alignment with current and in-process standards, including packaging component drawings and specifications, Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q), distribution testing and Process Performance Validation (PPV/PPQ) across all IMSC/MTO platforms (SM and LM platforms).
- Coordinate activities and technology transfers, new product launch and equipment installation projects in alignment with site management and key stakeholders, internal (IMSC) and external (PES). Provide technical support in confirming that packaging technology and Engineering standards are met across the sites.
- Provide site technical support (internal & external) with packaging related quality and compliance investigations related to new product introductions and/or technical transfers of secondary and distribution packaging operations.
- Work with our packaging sites to identify and deliver cost improvement or cost avoidance projects that result in lower unit cost. In addition, support the sites with line efficiency improvement initiatives / activities, as required.
- Lead and connect directly to establish teamwork and support partnerships within IMSC teams (VCM, TLI, SCDL, Deliver, TDS, PES, MSAT, EQ, among others) as required.
- Provide support on different packaging needs related to packaging technology transfers and new product launch projects
- Define the final project objectives and deliverables with the new product introduction/technical transfer project team.
- Use of FPX & Six Sigma as a project methodology where possible.
- Challenge the organization and focus on the needs of the customers and the business.
- Introduce sustainable packaging solutions for packaging materials/components within new product introduction and/or technical transfers projects.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, required. Focused degree in packaging or related area is preferred.
Required:
- Minimum of 6 years of packaging engineering and/or design, or proven experience
- Knowledge of packaging equipment is required.
- Secondary and distribution packaging material design experience
- Understanding of cGMP, Good Documentation Practices, and Regulations is required.
- The ability to lead and/or support multiple projects simultaneously is required.
- Web training / Change Control and Event Management System
- Document Management Systems (Global document management program, SharePoint, Training)
- Experience with artwork/graphics management systems is required.
- Experience with Packaging Process Performance Qualification (PPQ) strategy and execution is required.
- SAP/MRP system experience
- Primary packaging material experience
- Knowledge of temperature control/cold chain distribution and its application to pharma & medical device products
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, domestic
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
