Job Summary:
The Senior Global Engineer - Processes will be responsible for various elements of process design, operation, and implementation for capital projects for Quaker Houghton facilities as well as improving our industrial process operational efficiency, reducing operational costs / maximizing profitability, and assisting in the company's sustainability journey.
This role will work with closely with the Center of Excellence to define global manufacturing processes guidelines, standards, and procedures for Quaker Houghton manufacturing sites.
Accountabilities:
- Develops design solutions, project plans and cost estimates for both capital and process changes using WBS and methodologies as FEL (Front & End Loading), and PMBOK for projects and TPM, LEAN SIXSIGMA as well considering MOC (management of change) and risk analysis in those proposals
- Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification.
- Manages contractors and vendors when working on equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Coordinates with Research and Technology on improving manufacturing process operating conditions to meet customer needs as well as internal operational improvements.
- Support the management of maintenance, energy, waste disposal, and capital budgets.
- Providing strong production support including troubleshooting of process operating conditions and conducting special operational tests
- Working with and managing 3rd party contractors and vendors for equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Coordinating with other Quaker Houghton plants to provide a unified approach to job safety requirements.
- Benchmarks across the company and with outside organizations to improve the effectiveness of manufacturing processes and productivity gains.
Education and Experience:
- The successful candidate for this position should possess a Chemical Engineering degree or other Engineering degree with suitable work experience in a chemical manufacturing environment or engineering design firm involved in the design of chemical manufacturing facilities.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience with manufacturing operations, preferably in the chemical industry. The individual should also be able to demonstrate strong analytical thinking skills in previous work experience.
- The candidate should possess a working knowledge of chemical plant operations, including reaction chemistry, to support the development and implementation of safe operating procedures for chemical manufacturing operations. The individual should also have previous experience working with environmental, health and safety (EHS) regulations, HazOps and other PSM activities relative to manufacturing operations.
- The candidate should also demonstrate previous capability to manage the execution of projects using FEL or PMBOK methodologies as well as utilize process improvement work process such as TPM, Lean &Six Sigma methodologies.
- This position will require travel to various sites and working in an operating production environment. Travel should be <25% of the year and dependent upon company project needs. Base location for this position is flexible/remote but should be in the US central or eastern time zones or within the UK/EU to better facilitate interactions with the many company locations.
