Joining Engineer position, reporting to the Joining Engineering Manager, is located at out Fremont Factory location
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and launch joining engineering projects from design to start of production
The candidate should have expertise and experience in automotive manufacturing with a full understanding of joining equipment
This includes providing input and specification of equipment, quality, cycle time, design for manufacturability and joint development.What You’ll DoSpecification of joining equipment & systems such as: spot welding, self piercing rivet, remote laser welding, material dispensing and laser brazeManage CapEx project lifecycle: Justification, specification / option analysis, approval, spending & budget, factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, validation, and transfer of ownershipJoint development: creating parameters and joining schedules for unique stack-ups and joints in all joining applicationsProduction readiness declaration, including PM plans, spare part allocation, training, process documentation, lessons learned and production & quality sustainabilityOptimize joining processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
Robot path optimization, sequencing, parameter setup
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as maintenance, quality, process to ensure process stability and performanceStructure improvement & standardization plans with long term vision to achieve company and department objectivesStudy technologies to expert-level of understanding, utilizing internal & external technical resources to fully understand, teach and lead new / newly implemented technologiesSupport / assist Maintenance in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures
Provide technical training to maintenance, production, and other internal resource groupsWorking in a hands-on capacity in a production environment to fully understand scope, impact, and associated challenges
