The Senior Manager role in Centralized Accounting is a leadership position focused on ensuring financial accuracy, efficiency, and communication within the department and ensuring exceptional collaboration between the Centralized Accounting department and other financial and non-financial areas. Key functions that the role will focus on are a) Implementing and expanding the use of RPA and enabling technology and business process reengineering b) Implementing, improving and standardizing procedures and controls within the Centralized Accounting group, c) Overseeing the accounting and reconciliations of key/high risk areas of the company’s financial statements, including cash and accounts receivable, d) Integrating new acquisitions into our accounting processes and e) Leading and motivating the department with a focus on career development.
This role will manage several Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts directly but will also act in a leadership capacity for the entire Centralized Accounting organization, directly leading in certain areas, and acting as an overall backup to the Director.
This position will be critical to ongoing efforts to centralize and automate Finance processes across the Finance teams receiving Financial Shared Services from the Centralized Accounting Department. This role has a high level of focus on accounting controls, elimination of manual, non-value-added Finance effort, development of a well-controlled 21st century digital Finance/enabling technology environment. The manager will encourage and assist in efforts to drive continuous improvement in the accounting operations, including expanded implementation of robotic process automation (RPA), utilization of digital workers, and AI.
The function will be located near site to West Norriton, PA or on site / hybrid Secaucus.
Responsibilities:- Manage a group of 4-8 accountants and supervisors, who are responsible for the financial accounting of multiple Quest regions
- Manage people, processes, and project teams where no direct reporting relationships exist
- Oversee the accounting of complicated and higher dollar, higher risk areas of the company, including but not limited to Unapplied Cash, Revenue-related intercompany accounting, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, as well as accounting for newer business offerings
- Drive the efficiency of the Centralized Accounting department by implementing standardized practices, encouraging the use of thresholds to reduce non-value-added work, and identifying and proposing possibilities for robotic automation, AI, and Data Analytic tools like Power BI within the group
- Act as a point of contact for Regional and Business Finance Directors for enabling technology product offerings supporting the Director of RPA & Enabling Technology; focus the efforts of the SFAs/Accountants in the department to drive automation efforts within the Regions/Business Units
- Act as one of the main points of contact for Corporate Accounting, Field Finance, Revenue, Billing, Technical Accounting, Financial Systems, Internal Audit, Transactional Services, and Human Resource, collaborating with these areas when new business processes arise and proposing and developing appropriate procedures and controls for the Centralized Accounting department
- Lead the monthly close checklist and approval processes for both the Centralized Accounting and Consolidations departments, which ensures accuracy, integrity and completeness of our journal entries that directly impact our financial statements
- Lead the onboarding efforts for the Centralized Accounting department, ensuring staff is properly trained and has appropriate system access
- Along with Director, lead internal and external audit discussions regarding department’s processes, controls, and training procedures
- Lead department meetings and represent Centralized Accounting in Regional Finance workshops/meetings
- Stand in for the Centralized Accounting Director when Director is unavailable
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance MBA / CPA /CMA a plus
- 7 + years of progressive work experience in Consolidations Accounting, Process Design
- Proven leadership skills, with direct and indirect reporting relationships as well as when collaborating with other departments
- Strong competencies including Financial Acumen, Critical Thinking and Framing and Influencing
- Process driven with focus on accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and prioritize appropriately
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Competency in presenting to varying levels of the organization
- Strong computer skills, especially utilizing Microsoft Excel
- Experience with PeopleSoft, Hyperion Essbase, Blackline reconciliation system and CoStar real estate accounting system highly desirable
