Position Summary:
As part of Corporate Controllership this position will serve as the lead for all external reporting filing with the SEC and the project lead on various U.S. GAAP, SEC and other technical accounting issues by timely researching complex transactions and new accounting guidance independently, assessing implications, documenting conclusions, communicating with the impacted departments, training, and managing an implementation plan.
Accountabilities:
- Routinely provide technical accounting guidance in various areas such as contracts, revenue recognition, derivatives and hedging, pensions, share-based compensation, impairment analysis, acquisitions, divestitures, and overall application of new and existing accounting standards.
- Oversee the coordination of all elements involved in the preparation and examination of financial reports, encompassing Forms 10Q, 10K, 8K, 11K and Proxy, inclusive of U.S. GAAP financial statements, disclosures, MD&A, and adhering to established filing regulations. Continue to improve statement preparation processes.
- Develop and maintain Company-wide accounting policies. Stay current on GAAP and SEC regulations, monitor changes to accounting and reporting guidance, and lead the assessment of impacts to the Company of new guidance, including implementation and required changes to policies, controls, and disclosures as appropriate.
- Maintain a list of key transactions. Prepare accounting position whitepapers supporting transactions and conclusions.
- Work proactively with the corporate accounting team, larger global accounting organization, and internal and external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters.
- Promote and support accounting and reporting modernization projects.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with various levels in the organization
- Act as one of the primary points of contact for internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits of financial statements and controls.
- External Reporting - To provide guidance on reporting requirements related to technical accounting matters.
- CAO & CFO - To provide updates on projects and new accounting guidance to be communicated to the ELT and BOD
- Corporate Compliance - To assist in the development or modification of internal controls to ensure the Company remains SOX compliant.
- Global Accounting - To provide assist in implementing process changes related to new or changing accounting guidance.
- Tax & Treasury - To provide assist in implementing process changes related to new or changing accounting guidance.
- IT/HR/Commercial/Legal/etc. - To gain an understanding of current practices and assist in implementing changes to those practices to ensure compliance with requirements of new or changing accounting guidance
- External Audit (PwC (10-k) & Grant Thornton (11-k)) - Partner with Corporate Controller to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters with external auditors.
- Internal Audit (EY) - Partner with Corporate Controller to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters with internal auditors.
- Consultants (as needed) - Partner with consultants, as necessary, to complete projects (i.e. valuations specialists, technical accounting specialists, actuaries, etc.)
Work Environment:
- Represents a fast-paced office environment for a US public company atmosphere with high degree of accountability.
- Blended work arrangement with standard expectation of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote per week – subject to agreement and collaboration with the senior finance leadership team.
- Maintain the highest EHS standards.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Certified Public Accountant
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge and ability to research, interpret and document conclusions related to complex GAAP/SEC/Other accounting guidance and standards.
- Experience with public company filings through either an audit role or as a preparer working for a public company, or both.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills to guide and educate various stakeholders and teams.
- Strong project management and time management skills
- Strong team-oriented skills as well as a high level of self-motivation in working independently.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people across various levels, functions, and locations.
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
