Summary
You will own the business process for setting up and maintaining material (item) master data. This will include the day-to-day creation, as well as mass updates for data such as costing, product categorization, cross reference and other factors. This role will also own driving improvements to our process by (1) establishing a workflow process to partner with other Freeman stakeholders that provide the necessary data, (2) developing, documenting, and refining work instructions for the input and maintenance of all master data, and (3) performing training and governance verification for the established procedures.
Freeman is embarking on a multi-year transformation, navigating the complexities of managing data across multiple systems. This role requires a strong aptitude for handling data intricacies and ensuring seamless integration throughout the transformation journey.
This position will support our Data Operations team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate will be located in Chicago, IL; however, we are also open to candidates based out of:
• McCook, IL
• Dallas, TX
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Responsible for the management and execution of the daily operation of the material master data including day-to-day creation and mass maintenance, and verification of creation processes.
+ Develop/improve/modify the Master Data Management (MDM) processes to utilize data to achieve exceptional growth through data standardization and information management across multiple functional units of the business.
+ Creates and updates master data training documents, working instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), business process and changes as required and communicate these changes to the business functional units as needed.
+ Develops processes to improve material (part) master data governance & quality to support internal teams, planning modules, costing, and warehouse/transportation modules.
+ Develops processes to improve master data governance & quality to support internal teams and vendor relationship management and corrective action support.
+ Monitors creation and updates, verifying compliance with established processes.
+ Support cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives as the MDM expert .
+ Ensures accuracy and timely execution of all requests received for the Data creation & maintenance.
+ Works within the business to ensure the accuracy and integrity of master data elements including the ability to timely troubleshoot any data issues.
+ Manage the efforts to identify, troubleshoot, cleanse, organize and update data on an on-going basis.
+ Lead audit of master data in ERP systems for compliance with data standards, governance policies and procedures.
+ Interactions and presents to business and technology leaders in support of material data and its impacts on product, pricing, etc.
+ Manages a team of data stewards and data analysts.
Education & Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree with an accredited college or university required, concentration in Business, Supply Chain or Information Management specialty preferred.
+ Prefer experience with ERP interaction, including master data management but open to candidates with analytical skills or aptitude.
+ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including Pivot table, v-lookups, and VBA scripting preferred.
+ Experience and working knowledge of Master Data Management, Data Systems and Data Warehousing.
+ Cross-functional business knowledge (Supply Chain/Production/Finance/Sales).
+ Ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to source the required master data including web searches and vendor portals.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and coordinating projects, resources, vendors, and internal resources.
+ Readily understand and apply data to analyze and simplify complex concepts.
+ Strong technical, project management, and analytical aptitude.
+ Strong execution, driving capabilities.
+ Ability to manage, train and coach team members on systems.
+ Strong interpersonal skill to work across functions to resolve issues.
+ Comfortable with ambiguity.
+ Self-starter with ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
