Senior Manager, International Tax
Company Overview:
Our client, a dynamic medical technology company, is seeking a Senior Manager for their International Tax team. Our client focuses on transforming the treatment of calcified cardiovascular disease through innovative products.
Role Description:
The Senior Manager, International Tax will play a critical role in building a tax function to meet the demands of a changing tax landscape and a growing company. This position involves being a technical resource for global direct tax matters, overseeing international tax compliance, planning, and income tax accounting. Reporting directly to the Tax Director, the Senior Manager will contribute to the Company’s success. This role requires 3 days reporting in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Develop tax recommendations for the company’s expansion into new jurisdictions and business models, considering US, local, and cross-border tax implications.
- Ensure proper documentation of the company’s positions, including intercompany agreements and ASC 740 memoranda.
- Manage foreign direct tax audits and liaise with tax authorities globally.
- Monitor and advise on OECD and local country tax policy developments impacting income tax matters.
- Lead transfer pricing initiatives, integrating tax requirements to guide risk management.
- Prepare and review US international aspects of income tax workpapers and foreign tax returns (5471/8858/1118/8993, etc.).
- Ensure timely and accurate filings of foreign local income tax returns prepared by local accounting firms.
- Reconcile return to provision (“RTP”) and record RTP in the provision model.
- Provide research and advice on local country tax technical topics and positions.
- Collaborate proactively with Finance and other internal/external parties to drive process improvements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; JD or Master of Tax a plus.
- 10+ years of international tax experience in a large corporate environment (e.g., Big 4) with industry expertise.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound judgment in decision-making situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical abilities.
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $180K - $200K + bonus + equity.
