Job Description
Our client is looking to add a Sr. Network Engineer to their existing team in Michigan. This person will be the 2nd person on their network team and work hand in hand with their principal engineer. This role will be core day hours of 8am-5pm and will be on site at their facility in Detroit, Michigan. They are looking for a very skilled engineer that will start off on contract and have the potential to be hired into the organization eventually.
• Responsible for the design, configuration, and implementation of the network infrastructure including, switches, routers, Wireless Access Points/ Controllers, and firewalls
• Provides the technical designs and configurations for infrastructure security including VPN services, domain controls, security policies, firewall configurations, and administrative levels
• Extensive knowledge of Cisco firewalls, routers and switches – 9xxx Switches
• Extensive understanding of physical and logical network segmentation including VLANs and IP subnetting
• Vast knowledge in TCP/IP configurations, network addressing, and IP address management
• Strong understanding of the OSI Model with an emphasis on Layers 1-4
• Skilled in network routing protocols including OSPF and EIGRP
• Expertise with DNS and DHCP
• Strong skills in structured in both copper and fiber cabling
• Strong expertise in troubleshooting network issues including connectivity and latency for both the production and office environments
• Ability to configure and maintain network management and monitoring systems such as SolarWinds
• Provides escalated on and off hours support for all escalated IT issues
• Maintains expert level skills with multiple IT infrastructure elements including Cisco network hardware, Nutanix storage systems, VMWare, and Microsoft Operating Systems, SolarWinds (Incident and Performance Management Tool)
• Manages the IP Address schema for the network infrastructure
• Knowledgeable with ITIL processes and procedures
• Experience using Visio to document and maintain the network drawings and documentation
• Tier 1 automotive interior supplier experience is desirable
• Able to perform in a very demanding environment where change is common.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
