The Senior Nutrition Assistant is responsible for facilitating communication throughout the Food Service Department. Performs routine, daily processes utilizing dietary software. Serves as point person with PI initiatives and new software introduction. Assists in directing activity in case of system problems or exigent circumstances. Supervises daily workflow in call center.
Responsibilities:- Understands the parameters for the diet orders, restrictions, and allergies ordered for the patient and how to correctly administer the proper diet order through selections, preferences and traits. Ensures hosts and call center adhere to diet orders and investigate any possible deviations that may occur. Review item compliance issues and assist in ensuring hosts and nutrition assistants understand the various dietary restrictions.
- Works to provide the ultimate customer experience for our patients. This includes coordinating with kitchen staff to handle special requests or situations, maintaining a professional work environment in the office at all times, appropriately handling difficult situations that arise , ensuring all patients are fed during appropriate meal times, and following up to ensure all patient needs/requests are met.
- Communicates in a calm, pleasant, professional manner at all times. Is able to effectively interact with multiple departments throughout the hospital, including nursing, and medical staff. Explains protocols and processes to nutrition assistants, hosts, dietitians and kitchen staff. Follows designated patient scripts, either in person or on the telephone. Communicate appropriately with Clinical Nutrition Manager, Patient Service Manager, and others. Communicate and organize as necessary during crisis situations.
- Maintains authority over call center at all times and assists with any issues that may arise. Handles personal complaints or questions from hosts, nutrition assistants and dietitians with patience and understanding. Asserts authority during crisis situations and effectively solves problems. Capable to handle or address a variety of departmental activities such as catering.
- Able to perform daily, routine process checklist in allotted time. Enters notes, preferences, and menu instructions appropriately. Investigate issues that arise in tray ticket layout, admission issues, diet order interface or tube feeding transcription. Communicate with ISD and management regarding computer related problems and issues. Organizes and implements necessary downtime procedures as needed in the event of system downtime

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of two years of college or Associate's degree.
- Computer Skills, Telephone Skills
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Food service experience.
- Customer service experience.
