We are seeking a knowledgeable Sr. Payroll Tax Analyst to support key tax compliance initiatives and enhance our processes within the new ERP system. This role will involve validating system conversions, updating work instructions, and developing proactive audits to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations. The analyst will also assist with user acceptance testing and provide coverage during high-volume periods, such as quarter-end and year-end processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Validate and analyze payroll data, distinguishing between gross and taxable wages while understanding relevant deductions.
- Manage projects related to tax compliance, including system validation and process improvements.
- Conduct user acceptance testing for tax updates and system upgrades.
- Document current processes and ensure work instructions are up to date.
- Provide backup support during PTO and peak periods to ensure compliance continuity.
- Research tax notices from receipt to resolution, addressing compliance issues effectively.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Experience with PeopleSoft and familiarity with its payroll functionalities required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in advanced Excel functions.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
