Principal Systems Engineer role in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to lead the Mission Processing Element which is a software development team to support a new Ground program.  This position can be filled at Aurora, CO or Morrisville, NC.What you’ll get to do:  As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will lead a large team of engineers to develop, test, and deploy a software system.  You will also verify and validate requirements for a Ground Segment
In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline
Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission, ensuring everything is synchronized.  We have multiple Systems Engineering positions across the Ground program, on contract to deliver the ground segment for a restricted space program
This work will span command and control, mission planning and scheduling, mission processing, and system infrastructure
We have anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities. The successful candidate will have broad Systems Engineering lifecycle knowledge, with the ability to manage changes and present options for managing scope and dependencies to the technical and management teams in concise briefings.  The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment and to be highly self-motivated
The ideal candidate is a leader who is experienced leading other Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads and who excels in keeping the program management and the customer informed
The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions, and working in a very collaborative and fast paced environment that continues to grow
Experience leading teams is a must.  Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; Masters with 7 years of relevant experience; or 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD.Position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of applicationMust be willing to submit to a polygraphExperienced in leading large, geographically dispersed teamsExperienced in building teamsExcellent verbal and written communications skillsExperience with Agile developmentExperience with effectively managing, communicating, and presenting technical roadmaps and technical subjects to project and program management, other technical managers, and customersExperience managing technical dependencies across teamsExperienced leading a software teamPreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with space vehicle ground segment designExperience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) languages (SysML/UML) and conceptsFamiliarity with CameoExperience with Cloud technologiesExperience with requirements verificationSalary Range: $121,000.00 - $190,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results
