SR. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
Seeking a talented Product Development Senior Associate!
Your role will develop formulations and processes for products and provide formulation and pre-formulation support for all new product development projects. The ideal candidate is self motivated, with a passion for the nutraceutical industry, extremely strong with client relationships with a knowledge of manufacturing processes.
My client is a growing and successful contract manufacturing company for the nutritional industry nationwide who work exclusively with clients to make powder drinks, pre-mix, dietary capsules and more.
DUTIES
- Works with new and existing Customers along with the Sales to develop and formulate existing and/or new products.
- Proposes and evaluates formulation strategies for research and development compounds.
- Records, compiles, analyzes research data and evaluation procedures.
- Identifies and prepares research quality dosage formulations for oral administration.
- Conducts physicochemical characterization of new compounds (solubility and stability).
- Inputs customers new and/or revised products into a formula form and prepares it for quotation process.
- Reviews all raw material product specifications and is responsible for final product formulations and bottling specifications.
- Prepares regulatory documents as appropriate and updates records in regards to formulas and formula costs.
- Evaluates data received from contract research organizations.
- Works with purchasing to locate and approve new raw materials and suppliers.
- Helps troubleshoot manufacturing problems related to formulation/out of spec tablets and capsules.
- Maintains and develops scientific awareness and identifies potential opportunities
- Develops professional skills to enhance job expertise and awareness of company policies for GMP, SOP, and safety regulations.
- Works within the limits of Prop 65 and compiles the research/library
- Generates supplement/nutritional fact panels by building library and Genesis Software.
- Responsible for checking labels and supplement facts against formulations for the first runs.
- May work with OU Kosher/CCOF c to gather data or achieve certifications
- Creates and maintains quality in an ever-changing and developing environment.
- May need to work under R&D in the lab when necessary.
- Creates new finished product, raw material and packaging part numbers in DBA.
- Update and add product formulas into DBA utilizing the BOM utility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in related field or equivalent required
- 3-5 years related experience or equivalent. Experience in nutritional industry preferred

- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, computer and equipment validation, GMPs, and product/process validation
- Above Average Math Skills: Required for weight conversions, percent activities, heavy metal calculations, label reviews, understanding a COA/spec sheet/, molecular weights, etc.
- Proficient on MS Word/Outlook, Excel, MRP Software, preferably DBA Manufacturing
