Description
The Senior Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities pertaining to the construction and maintenance of solar projects in accordance with company policies and governmental regulations. The Sr. Project Manager will oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of Solar Photovoltaic projects, including the research, design, development, building and testing of the Solar Photovoltaic systems.
What You'll Do:
1. Organize, plan, direct, coordinate and report onsite construction activities.
2. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer‐generated reports related to solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.
3. Work with Design Engineers to research, evaluate, install, and operate mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements.
4. Hire, train, lead, and develop project managers within the department.
5. Support management of on‐site construction of PV projects to conform to the design and contract documents and the national and local building codes including the National Electric Code.
6. Provide management support for the design of solar PV projects, including management of internal employees and outside consultant disciplines such as surveying, civil, environmental, landscaping, geotechnical, structural, and electrical.
7. Lead the construction effort from estimating, management and scheduling.
8. Manage all sub-contractors and crew members for timely completion, quality; ensures project is built according to plans, specifications, schedule and budget.
9. Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to fall within industry market pricing and provides competitive customer bid.
10. Work with the Commissioning Manager to schedule and complete commissioning, reporting, and production.
11. Develop and maintain quality relationships with Utility Companies and provide timely communication regarding schedule, inspections, energization and interconnections.
12. Read, interpret and understand all project documentation such as insurance, permitting and project scheduling.
13. Document delays/changes; sets up staging areas as needed.
14. Maintain and monitor quality standards.
15. Report to the management team all projects progress, new issues, resolutions, and budget and schedule compliance on a consistent basis.
16. Act as a trouble shooter on current projects.
17. Provide and arranges timely and efficient mechanical and technical customer service during project’s warranty period.
18. Assure compliance with Company safety policies and OSHA and/or MSHA safety standards.
19. Seek cost savings through vendor negotiations, market analysis, and eliminating waste.
20. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and problem solving.
What You'll Need:
- Associates degree or comparable experience in construction technology
- 5 years minimum of supervisory experience in construction or renewable energy field
- Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work
- Proficiency with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Bonus Points:
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related field
- Proficiency with Project Schedules and/or MS Project
- Experience working on solar construction
- OSHA 10/30 Certified
