We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Property Accountant to join our finance team.
Position Overview:
The Property Accountant will assist in managing the financial operations of our property portfolio. This role involves supporting the Accounting Manager and the finance team with day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining the financial health of our properties. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for real estate accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process and manage invoices, payments, and receipts related to property operations. Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors and collection of rent.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy in financial statements.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and assist in the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for individual properties and the overall portfolio.
- Lease Administration: Review and verify lease agreements, ensuring accurate billing and compliance with lease terms.
- Property Management Systems: Utilize property management software (Sage) to track financial transactions, generate reports, and maintain up-to-date records. Experience with Sage is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements. Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation and records.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate accounting. Internship experience will be considered.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of accounting principles and real estate management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Sage accounting software is preferred but not required. Training on Sage will be provided.
- Knowledge of property management practices and lease agreements.
