Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
In this role, you will be the lead Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) responsible for Customer Terminal Software. Kuiper is breaking new ground with every device we design, and you will be an integral part of bringing this family of products to customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive test strategies, frameworks, and methodologies to ensure the quality and reliability of software products.
- Lead continuous improvement of the QA process
- Collaborate and influence cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and project managers to understand software quality requirements and design effective test strategies.
- Define release planning and provide input on the readiness of software for production deployment.
- Work with component teams to identify the pain points in their area and provide technical guidance.
- Create, maintain, and execute test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios for various software components, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
- Identify and document defects, issues, and potential areas of improvement in the software development process.
- Perform root cause analysis of complex issues and work with the development team to resolve issues and enhance the overall product quality.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in QA and testing, and apply this knowledge to continuously improve testing processes.
- Collaborate with engineers to implement and maintain automated testing frameworks and test suites.
- Define key metrics for measuring and reporting on the quality of software products and test effectiveness.

A day in the life
As a Sr. QAE, you will own the testing strategy for Customer Terminal software. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams inside project Kuiper. You will develop a strategic vision, built upon high release speed and quality. You will lean into automation, and work closely with Software Developers within the organization to execute this vision.
About the team
The Kuiper Customer Terminal Software Team supports the devices that connect our customers to the Kuiper network. We work hand in hand with hardware, product and operations teams to deliver a great experience for our customers.
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
- 4+ years of delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives experience
- Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an QAE role
- Experience in automation testing
- Experience in manual testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, Objective C
- Experience testing networking or wireless communication systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
