POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Safety Leader position is responsible for developing and directing safety and health initiatives within the organization to improve safety performance. This role will engage and inspire operations leaders and safety professionals to build and maintain an effective safety culture through associate involvement and participation. The ability to influence, coach, and motivate associates at all levels of the organization is critical for this role.

OBJECTIVES AND DELIVERABLES:
- Establish, socialize, and reinforce the LRC safety and health strategy.
- Develop and lead LRC safety programs, systems, and initiatives to reduce hazards and injuries.
- Benchmark and create LRC best practices - i.e. behavior-based safety.
- Create KPIs and metrics to measure to assess the effectiveness of programs, processes, and policies and adjust our health and safety agenda.
- Counsel and mentor safety professionals and operations leaders.
- Lead efforts to reduce workers' compensation costs in w/claims management.
- Ensure LRC compliance around state and federal regulatory requirements and standards.
- Drive organizational initiatives around audits, inspections, and training.
- Direct all internal and external safety reporting and communications.
KEY RESULTS:
- Achievement of desired outcomes against all safety initiatives and goals.
- Establish a well-considered 3-5-year safety roadmap through collaboration and buy-in across the organization.
- Develop a strong team of safety professionals and operations leaders who are known for making timely decisions and taking proactive measures to identify, reduce, and eliminate risks and incidents.
- Improvement of associate engagement across all business operations.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is preferred.
- Certification(s) in safety is desired- CSP, ASP, OHST, SMS.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership/supervisory experience in an industrial setting.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations is desired.
- Experience working within union environments is preferred.
- Family or privately held business experience is preferred.
- Environmental background is preferred.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office along with working knowledge of different systems and applications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The ability to work in a normal manufacturing environment to include sitting, standing, or walking for long periods of time; climbing stairs; operating various standard office equipment; carrying paper documents/files; reaching; bending; twisting; crawling; speaking on the telephone, etc. Some travel may be required. This position is designed to operate on-site.
The ability to wear required personal protection gear (i.e., hearing, eye, and foot protection as well as other personal protective equipment such as gloves and aprons, etc.); tolerating loud noise (maximum of 95 dB); tolerating extreme heat, cold, and dusty environment.
