Purpose:
The Sr. Sanitation Lead is responsible for ensuring food manufacturing sanitation protocols are adhered to. They will ensure consistency in sanitation standards by improving, developing, and enforcing SSOPs, and GMPs, and maintaining the supply and usage of all plant sanitation chemicals. They will implement company cleaning policies, perform daily sanitation inspections, and oversee the duties of the Sanitation Team, which includes temporary workers from a 3rd party.
Job Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain the following programs: Master sanitation schedule, cleaning chemical, and regularly auditing the effectiveness of these programs and adjusting as necessary
- Update and maintain plant Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and regular audit of the effectiveness of procedures to ensure a safe product
- Schedule people, according to predetermined guidelines, to meet all sanitation goals. Makes sure that all people are performing jobs to the company’s standards and are being used effectively
- Enforce all company policies including attendance, GMPs, FSMS, handbook, etc.
- Communicate any issues (employee, sanitation, production, or other) to the Food Safety Manager regularly
- Supervises the cleaning of the plant and equipment to meet company standards as written in SSOP’s and the master sanitation schedule
- Ensures plant sanitation practices meet all company, customer, and regulatory standards
- Maintains and follows plant cleaning schedules
- Maintains the supply and usage of all plant sanitation chemicals
- Maintains the Safety Data Sheet and ensures compliance with Safety Data Sheet requirements and ensures that cleaning agents are used according to company policies and manufacturer directions
- Works with chemical and equipment suppliers
- Reviews and approves documentation related to plant sanitation
- Coordinates and oversees the daily workloads of each shift Sanitation Technician and temporary sanitation worker by prioritizing sanitation program elements
- Coordinates cleaning and maintaining sanitation records
- Coordinates chemical and sanitation equipment training for team members, including training on chemical security and chemical safety
- Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training
- Handle day-to-day disciplinary action for direct report sanitation employees and document these meetings with effective notes in the event there is an issue in the future
- Evaluate sanitation processes to find ways to improve efficiency, minimize waste and downtime
- Perform evaluations of all direct report sanitation employees
- Stay up to date with regulatory changes in terms of managing employees and producing a safe, quality product Immediately report all food safety and quality problems to senior management
- Prepare the plant for regulatory, customer, and other audits
- Experience with regulatory inspections (AIB, OSHA, Health Department, EPA, SQF, etc.)
- Knowledge of HAZMAT
- Knowledge of water processing

Skills/Work Experience Needed:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bi-lingual in Spanish required
- 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory/management capacity in a food manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge and experience with food safety audits
- Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Kleanz
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong planning, organization, multi-tasking, and follow-up skills
- Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Basic business math and strong analytical/decision-making skills
