You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail.You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program
You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon, this time to stay.You will be a Senior Thermal Systems Engineer within the Thermal Integrated Product Team (Thermal IPT)
You will be responsible for performing and leading Systems Engineering (SE) tasks and delivering SE-related products
This person will work closely with the Thermal Analysts and Designers, but also across all other IPTs to ensure successful execution of the Thermal Subsystem in the larger spacecraft and mission
Contribute to a team of Thermal Engineers simultaneously developing groundbreaking lunar landers.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight
Passion for our mission and vision is required!Responsibilities:Develop & manage Thermal specifications and requirements (at subsystem and component-levels)Develop & manage Thermal interfaces, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and models (in collaboration with adjacent IPTs)Decompose requirements from system and subsystem-levels into lower-level requirementsThermal point of contact for inputs to vehicle system safety products and risk managementMentor early-career Thermal Systems Engineers on the Lunar ProgramStandardize Thermal Systems Engineering approachesOwn the verification and validation of Thermal requirements, in collaboration with the Thermal test engineersPerform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels, and to verification activitiesLead trade studies across the Thermal IPT and with other IPTsServe as the Thermal point-of-contact for other IPTsUtilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill and CameoSupport and present at major gated reviews including design reviews, readiness reviews, etc.Qualifications:Minimum of a B.S
degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering8 years of relevant Thermal Engineering or Systems Engineering experience on space missionsUnderstanding of heat transfer fundamentals in space environmentStrong understanding and application of Systems Engineering fundamentals in a few areas such as Requirements management, Verification, and/or IntegrationFamiliarity with common spacecraft thermal hardwareStrong understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation processAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.Must be a U.S
