As a Senior Software Engineer, your role is hands-on. You'll be writing lots of code and interacting with developers from across the organization. You'll help us with building out the next revision of our entitlements and enrollments on-line registration platform (OLR). You will be a part of a team that is the engine behind how our customers are entitled to access our products and platforms. To achieve that, you will:

- Pair program with different people across a variety of situations.
- Coach/mentors associate team members to help them expand and improve their skill sets.
- Continuously learn; being open to learn and pick up new practices, processes, technologies, and languages.
- Be committed to completing well-defined work and delivering on those commitments.
- Lead in the breakdown, estimation, and design of small increments of work.
- Test solutions with the utmost scrutiny. Remember: We love testing and hate downtime!
- Security is taken seriously, so protecting student and instructor data is something that we think about in every aspect of the SDLC.
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience
- 5+ years of experience working on core Java projects.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/REST/API architectures
- Strong understanding of application and enterprise design patterns
- Understanding of the full SDLC
- Technical leadership experience or a desire to be one
- Strong design understanding of cloud-based applications.
- Familiar with testing concepts and strategies using tools like Junit or Gatling.
- Experience working with Java web containers such as Tomcat or JBoss
- Experience using source code control systems, such as Git or Stash and build/integration tools like Maven and Jenkins.
- Comfortable with complex algorithms and object-oriented programming.
- Participates in open-source projects.
- Experience working with AWS web hosting
- Experience with a variety of software development applications, environments, and languages.
- Passion for working in the academic, professional or library markets, and experience with technologies within those markets such as e-Readers.
