Job Description:
This role is essential in safeguarding and recovering critical data in the event of system failures. Essential Skills and Competencies:
• Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator with a focus on backup and restore operations.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (SQL Server 2019 and SQL Server 2022).
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
• Experience in SSIS and SSRS development.
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
• Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions
. • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) are a plus.
Required Technical Skills:
1. Database Administration:
• Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
• Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as indexing, integrity checks, and statistics updates. 2. Backup and Restore:
• Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for databases to minimize data loss and downtime.
• Execute database backups and perform periodic restores to validate the integrity of backup files.
3. Database Security:
• Implement and manage database security measures, including user access control, roles, and permissions.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and take proactive measures to protect sensitive data.
4. Performance Optimization:
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize query performance.
• Tackle issues related to query optimization, indexing, and resource utilization.
5. SSIS Development:
• Design, develop, and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). • Collaborate with data management team and business users to understand data integration requirements.
• Optimize and troubleshoot SSIS packages for efficient data movement.
6. SSRS Development:
• Create, modify, and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports.
• Collaborate with business users to define reporting requirements.
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reports generated by SSRS
7. High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
• Set up and maintain high availability solutions like SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and clustering.
• Develop, test, and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss in the event of a system failure.
8. Database Upgrades and Patch Management:
• Plan and execute database upgrades and apply patches and service packs as necessary.
• Ensure database systems are up-to-date and secure.
