Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Sr. Staff Engineer. The Sr. Staff Engineer's primary responsibility will be concept development, requirements definition and detailed design of infrared and visible optical systems and E-O testing solutions to meet customer needs.

Requirements
* Supports Engineering and Sales in responding to customer RFIs/RFQs for IR and visible testing components and systems
* Balances innovation and technical performance with sensitivity to cost and schedule to arrive at effective and efficient solutions which will maintain (and where appropriate, advance) SBIR's position as a leading provided of E-O test equipment and systems
* Demonstrates high levels of technical leadership, works effectively as a member of a team, mentoring other team members
* Designs complex optical systems and associated testing equipment
* Works effectively with electrical, mechanical and software engineering staff to develop initial solution concepts, and to subsequently execute detailed design of new products and product variants
* Develops top-level system requirements and flow-down requirements for sub-systems and components
* Generates system description documents and user guides/manuals for products
* Supports additional activities as assigned by supervisor
Experience:
* Bachelor's level degree from four-year college or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Due to US Export Control Regulations compliance, eligible candidates MUST be a US citizen, permanent resident or a person who has been granted asylum; proper documentation required. Pre-employment verifications: must pass background, reference and ITAR/EAR checks in addition to a pre-employment drug screen.
