Senior Systems Engineer – Device Characterization

Position Overview: as a Senior Systems Engineer in the Timing division, you will play a key role in our new product introduction (NPI) cycle, transitioning products from pre-silicon design to post-silicon validation and characterization.
We seek candidates who demonstrate a passion for learning, initiative, curiosity, and engineering ingenuity. A positive attitude and a strong disposition for teamwork are essential.
Location: this position can be based in Austin, TX, or Nashua, NH.
Responsibilities
Pre-silicon Stage:
• Participate in design architecture reviews and provide DFT (Design-For-Test) requirements.
• Design and develop Engineering Evaluation Boards (EEVBs) based on product specifications.
• Collaborate with layout engineers, specify board components, and evaluate boards through TDR and VNA measurements.
• Design and develop silicon validation test benches, plan and assemble benches, and develop test flows in Visual Studio .NET.
Post-silicon Stage:
• Assist with first-silicon block validation tasks.
• Plan and execute device characterization across Process, Voltage, and Temperature (P,V,T) corners.
• Analyze characterization data and review with design, applications, and marketing teams.
• Deliver datasheet specifications and collaborate with product test engineering.
Continuous Improvement:
• Improve test infrastructure through software and hardware optimizations.
• Refine test methodologies and document lessons learned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 8 years of experience, or a Master’s with 6 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, PLLs, synthesizers, and jitter mechanisms.
• Experience with device characterization and/or silicon validation.
• Proficiency with PCB design tools (OrCAD, PADS PCB, Allegro) and data processing tools (JMP, Matlab, Minitab).
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming (Visual Studio .NET, Python).
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware and software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Mentor junior engineers and interns and provide performance feedback.
• Lead projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and report project status to management.
• Foster a culture of accountability and creative problem-solving.
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $89,100 - $172,100 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
