Description/Comment: Senior Systems Engineer - Windows Client Engineering (Desktop Engineering) The Senior Systems Engineer develops, maintains and supports The Home Depot's complex technical infrastructures, hardware, and system software components. They interface with Business Stakeholders on all complex projects, have the ability to present ideas, run projects and update management on all escalated issues. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting with design, building and support of the Windows Desktop infrastructure in Home Depot, including those in stores, corporate location, and distribution center environment. This includes Windows operating systems, hardware platforms and other common software packages. The Senior Systems Engineer is also responsible for daily management of Microsoft Active Directory. This includes technologies that closely interface with Active Directory such as Active Directory Certificate Services and GPO. The Senior Engineer will be part of a team that develops and executes infrastructure projects for corporate centers, stores and distribution centers. They provide L4 operational support, create and maintain tools for support, provides mentoring and training to fellow team members, as well as IT Operations and IT Help Desk associates. The Engineer also performs root cause analysis for issues as well as proposing and developing preventative measures. NATURE AND SCOPE - Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must pass the Drug Test. Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.
EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Expert knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory and the Windows platform.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Manage installation, maintenance and support of complex technical infrastructures, hardware, and system software components. Manage and tune Windows platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved. Provide expert technical direction to Intermediate, Associate and contract Engineers. Manage store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementations. Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures on complex projects. Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues. Other Duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Extensive hand-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory and the Windows operating systems, utilities, tools and applications. Ability to write and review PowerShell scripts and understand general scripting practices. Experience with SQL databases, and specifically Transact SQL queries. Experience with Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS) and Group Policy Objects (GPO). Experience with Microsoft Distributed File System (Client). Experience with SCCM, SCORCH, SCOM, Splunk, Puppet preferred. Experience with Operating System Deployment and Task Sequences (SCCM) Set up network interfaces on servers, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues related to the connectivity. Must understand basic networking items such as Ethernet, ARP, and TCP/IP. Working Knowledge of LDAP, DNS, WINS, SNMP, and NTP configuration. Experience with VMware and VDI a plus. Experience with process/procedure improvement and solution development, documentation, implementation. Must be available on-call 24/7 with proven ability to work independently to research and develop solutions to new problems. Ability to prioritize work activity and manage multiple tasks. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES - Expert knowledge of server fundamentals (hardware and software) is essential. Ability to listen to what the user is saying and then interpret what he/ she is trying to get across. The ability to work autonomously and with a diverse team. Ability to communicate at all levels. Ability to present ideas and take charge of projects. Ability to delegate and track progress across multiple resources to complete objectives.
